North Spore is one of our favorite small producers to work with, as their passion for mushrooms and dedication to working sustainably are evident in all their products. We especially love this chaga tea, which is made from one of the most esteemed medicinal mushrooms in the world. Chaga has been used for hundreds of years by the people of the Siberian mountains, and is prized for its health-boosting compounds. Chaga grows on the trunks of birch trees, and our Maine woods are a great place to harvest it. The mushroom is air-dried and ground to make this tea, which can be brewed by simmering 1 tablespoon of tea in 4 cups of water for about 20 minutes. Strain the grounds, but keep them, as they can be reused 2 or 3 times. Tailor your cup of tea as you would coffee and enjoy the benefits of this ‘mushroom of immortality’.
