They taste so good that the French and Belgians are both still claiming to have invented French fries. Whomever created them or whatever you call them - pommes frites, frites, frieten or fries - we are happy that someone, somewhere thought to blanch a strip of potato in hot oil.  There’s nothing better than eating a crisp, salty fry with a golden brown crunchy exterior and a light fluffy interior, that will hold firm for dipping into our favorite sauce. Too often the fries we order at a restaurant are not the perfect treat we long for, but a commercial adaptation of a fried frozen potato stick. Greasy, soft and over-processed fries have no place on our tables. This has motivated us to explore making them fresh at home, and is how we found a great vintage-style cast iron French fry cutter. The Winco cast iron French fry cutter can be mounted to a wall or countertop for secure positioning, and we can quickly slice whole potatoes into French fry strips using this heavy duty cutter.  The cutter is fitted with sharp stainless steel blades that slices potatoes into perfectly even pieces with one pull of the handle, which beats cutting them by hand. We think even the French (or Belgians!) would agree that this is the right way to do fries.
